February[]
- February 10 - Premier Parks announces that they will purchase the Six Flags chain from Time Warner and Boston Ventures for $1.86 billion, becoming Premier's largest purchase and allowing the company to include the Warner Bros. licenses throughout their parks.
March[]
- March 14 – Taz's Texas Tornado opens at Six Flags AstroWorld.
April[]
- April 1 – Six Flags' sale to Premier Parks is officially closed, merging their parks into Premier's operations.
- April 4 – The Riddler's Revenge opens at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
- April 9 – Six Flags Great Adventure opens for the 1998 season.
- April 18 – 23 riders on the Demon roller coaster at Six Flags Great America are stranded upside-down in the middle of the ride's second vertical loop. Firefighters used a cherry picker to bring riders to safety, although some were on the ride for as long as three hours. The incident was the result of a mechanical failure.

- May 23 – Warner Bros. Country begins at Six Flags Great America.

- June 21 - Kentucky Kingdom is renamed Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, becoming the first Premier-owned property to rebrand under the Six Flags moniker.
- Twisted Sisters opens at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom.

- September 7 – Warner Bros. Country ends at Six Flags Great America.

- October 2 – Fright Fest 1998 begins at Six Flags Great Adventure.
- October 9 – Fright Fest 1998 begins at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
- October 10 – Fright Fest 1998 begins at Six Flags Great America.
- October 29 - Premier Parks announces that they will rebrand a select number of their parks under the Six Flags moniker. The change would also bring along the Warner Bros. licenses to the parks.
- Adventure World would gain over $27 Million worth of improvements and changes, and would rebrand as Six Flags America.
- The New Marine World, Darien Lake, and Elitch Gardens would also adorn the Six Flags name, becoming Six Flags Marine World, Six Flags Darien Lake, and Six Flags Elitch Gardens.
