January[]
- January 3 – The Joker's Revenge closes at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
- January 10 - Anheuser-Busch, the owners of the SeaWorld chain, announced to sell SeaWorld Ohio to Six Flags for $110 million. The deal would allow the park to merge with Six Flags Ohio and its campground offerings into a large entertainment complex known as Six Flags Worlds of Adventure.
- January 15 - Six Flags European Parks announces the official rebranding of Walibi Wavre as Six Flags Belgium for the 2001 season, with the Walibi characters being replaced with the Looney Tunes and the DC Comics heroes as the park's new mascots.

- March 1 – Six Flags Great America announces the addition of two new "monster roller coasters", Vertical Velocity and Déjà Vu, for the park's 2001 season.
- March 3 – Looney Tunes USA opens at Six Flags Over Texas.
- March 10 – Wile E. Coyote's Grand Canyon Blaster opens at Six Flags Over Texas.
