- lJuly 6 – A 67-year-old employee of the park is killed by Le Vampire at La Ronde. The employee was reportedly found underneath the attraction in a restricted area, appearing to have suffered head trauma. Park officials stated that the employee had been struck by the roller coaster. The employee was pronounced dead at the scene; another individual was taken to a hospital to be treated for shock. Officials with the park did not know why the employee entered the restricted area of the ride while it was operational, but they did state that the ride was operating normally and that procedures for entering restricted ride areas, including notification of ride staff, had not been followed.
- July 7 – Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom opens at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
- July 24 – King Cobra opens in Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags Great Adventure.

- August 4 – The Rattler closes at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
- August 30 – Six Flags announces their plan to merge Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Wild Safari to make Six Flags Great Adventure the largest theme park in the world.

- September 3 – Flashback and Texas Chute Out close at Six Flags Over Texas to make way for an unannounced 2013 attraction.
- September 8 – Gene Patrick dies at age 72.

- A 19-year-old man falls from the Venom Drop water slide in Hurricane Harbor at Six Flags Magic Mountain. According to a spokesperson for the water park, the man cut in line at the slide, fought through the lifeguards and jumped onto the slide head first. The man tumbled onto the slide and slipped over the edge, falling 60 feet onto a fence below the slide tower. The local sheriff's office reported that the man was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
