The Balloon Race is a gondola flat ride at the Camp Snoopy area of Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.
History[]
Balloon Race opened with the Camp Snoopy area on July 1, 1983. The new kid's area had been previewed to employees and their children on the preceding June 27th, 28th, and 30th.[1] The ride was originally manufactured by Bradley & Kaye and operated through the 1991 season. For the 1992 season, it was replaced with a similarly-themed ride manufactured by Morgan. It then operated for some time as Flying Ace Balloon Race, reverting back to its original name in the summer of 2009.[2][3][4] The surrounding area underwent renovation between the 2013 and 2014 seasons.[5][6] During that time, the color-striped balloons had been replaced with ones using designs patterned after the Peanuts characters (such as Charlie Brown's zigzag shirt and Snoopy's paws).[7]
