Batman: The Ride is a steel inverted roller coaster located in Gotham City at Six Flags Over Georgia. It was manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, and opened for the first time on May 3, 1997.
The sixth of the seven installations of the B&M version of Batman: The Ride, the Six Flags Over Georgia version opened to coincide with the release of Batman & Robin in the summer of 1997. It was also the last installation for which its opening was intended to tie in or be themed after a film in the Batman "Burtonverse" series.
History[]
Opening[]
Batman: The Ride was announced in 1996. It opened for the first time on May 3, 1997.
In the spring of 2015, Six Flags Over Georgia debuted Batman: The Ride Backwards (also referred to as "Namtab").
Experience[]
Queue[]
In the original sketch of the queue line, guests enter through an archway that leads into Gotham City. A tombstone is found to the left of the entrance path. Guests go left and pass a zig-zag pathway. They then go past a fountain and left curved path. As of 2020, guests now pass underneath the entrance and walk towards the lockers. They then go past the same exact left-handed pathway and a right turn. Guests then navigate through a zig-zag portion and approach a ring-shaped path with two different routes. The left path is a chicken exit that guests can use if they chicken out in line. The path on the right leads to a Sewer Tunnel, which has The Toxic Accumulator inside. Guests walk in The Alley outside, where they see the tracks. A left turn is followed by two separate paths. One of the paths is a shortcut that leads straight into the building, while the other contains The Power Plant Section. The Power Plant Section is an extended queue area that includes an indoor area with a long switchback, flammable barrels and an outdoor area with a path near a road. It is mostly blocked by trash cans. These paths lead to a tunnel and guests go upstairs to the station. Thought the years, guests graffiti their names onto the rocks, or put messages like "6 Flags Rocks" or "Six Flags is terrible".
Ride[]
Batman: The Ride departs the station and starts climbing up a 105-foot chain lift hill. Sometimes, music is being heard while going up the lift hill. Once it reaches the top, the ride drops 85 feet to the left, as it reaches a speed of 50 mph. It goes into a vertical loop, then a Zero-G-Roll and then a second vertical loop. The ride goes through several turns and 2 corkscrews. After that, the ride goes into the final brake run into the building.
Changes[]
- In 2003, the second half of the queue line was separated into two different paths. A tunnel was cut through the interior of the building to allow a shortcut to the tunnel that leads to the station. The power plant section became an extended queue used for busier days.
- Sometime in the mid-2000s, the police car, which was located in the outdoor extended queue area near the back parking lot was pulled from the queue.
- In 2009, the junk was removed from the queue.
- In 2010, the ride was repainted from a black color scheme to a blue on black color scheme, matching Batman: The Ride at Six Flags Magic Mountain.
- Sometime in the early 2010s, most of the graffiti walls in the queue were painted over due to confusion with real graffiti.
- In 2017, the inside of the building received some changes. The televisions were taken out of the indoor queue area and the fire alarms were replaced.
- In 2020, the ride was given a new entrance and the first half of the original queue line was reduced to make room for Catwoman Whip. All Gotham City Park scenery was removed, including the fountain, banner and plaque.
- In 2024, the ride photo camera were added where the first vertical loop is. Fog effects were added in the station as well.

- On May 26, 2002, a 58-year-old park employee working in the roller coaster's restricted area was killed after being struck in the head by the dangling leg of a 14-year-old girl riding in the front. The girl was hospitalized with a leg injury.
- On June 28, 2008, a 17-year-old South Carolina teenager was decapitated after being struck by the roller coaster. The teen, who was on a trip to the park with his church's youth group, scaled two fences with a friend into a restricted area and walked into the ride's path. Although witnesses stated he was trying to retrieve his hat, a Cobb County police spokesman reported the teens were attempting to take a shortcut into the park.
Trivia[]
- The Six Flags Over Georgia version of Batman: The Ride has the largest "inner city" Gotham queue area. However, there is no police car in the queue.
- The Six Flags Over Georgia version of Batman: The Ride was the first version to have an indoor queue area. Batman: The Ride at Six Flags Over Texas also has an indoor queue area
