Boomerang was a steel shuttle roller coaster located at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.
History[]
The ride was manufactured by Vekoma and was opened at the park on April 6, 1990. It was built in the Roaring 20's area (later renamed to "Boardwalk") on the former site of Corkscrew, which was moved to the Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, Idaho. Boomerang itself was closed on April 23, 2017 to make way for the HangTime dive coaster.[1][2][3]
Boomerang was dismantled and sent to the Trans Studio Cibubur theme park in Indonesia, where it opened in 2021 as "Boomerang Hyper Coaster" with a new train from Vekoma.[3]
Design[]
When the ride first opened, it was painted entirely blue. In 2003, it was repainted purple with green supports. For the 2013 season, the track was repainted yellow with green supports.
Train[]
The ride featured a single train with 7 cars. Riders were arranged 2 across in 2 rows in each car for a total of 28 riders per train.
Trivia[]
- The first round of the 2009 Cartoon Network game show, BrainRush, took place on this coaster. This is where most of the tie-breakers would occur.
