The Calico Mine Ride is a semi-dark ride located at the Ghost Town area of Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.
History[]
The Calico Mine Ride was built by the Hurlbut Amusement Company at a cost of $1.5 million and opened in November 1960. Based on a gold mine in the old west, its theming would set the standard for future attractions at the park.[1][2]
Refurbishment[]
The ride was closed in January 2014 for refurbishment by Garner Holt Productions.[3] It reopened on the following June 14th with new animatronics, audio, special effects, and a themed lighting system by Acclaim Lighting.[2][4][5]
Incident[]
On July 28, 2022, the Calico Mine Ride derailed, though no injuries were reported.[6]
