California's Great America (abbreviated CGA), also known as simply Great America (abbreviated GA) is a Six Flags theme park located in Santa Clara, California. It originally opened on March 20, 1976 as one of the two Marriott's Great America parks built by the Marriott Corporation, the other being Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. California's Great America is divided into seven themed sections, all of which contain various rides and attractions. The park is notable for having gone through many ownership changes over the years. After being sold by Marriott in 1985, the park was owned by the City of Santa Clara and operated by the Kings Entertainment Company, the latter of which also owned Kings Island, Kings Dominion, and Carowinds. Kings Entertainment Company acquired the park in 1989, before it was sold to Paramount Communications in 1992 and subsequently renamed Paramount's Great America as part of the studio's Paramount Parks division. The park was sold again to Cedar Fair in 2006, which merged with Six Flags in 2024. As of 2022, Cedar Fair planned to close California's Great America by 2033, while the current land rental agreement with Prologis expires in 2028 with an option of a five-year extension.
South Bay Shores is a water park located within California's Great America. It opened in 2004 as Crocodile Dundee's Boomerang Bay before being renamed to simply Boomerang Bay in 2007. In 2019, Boomerang Bay was expanded and renamed South Bay Shores. Access to the water park is included with park admission.
