Canada's Wonderland is a Six Flags amusement and water park located in Vaughan, Ontario, Canada. The park opened on May 23, 1981 and was originally built and owned by Taft Broadcasting Company and various business partners, while being operated by Taft. The park consists of the Canada's Wonderland theme park and Splash Works water park. Canada's Wonderland is divided into different themed sections which contain various attractions including rides and roller coasters, dining and shopping options, and live entertainment.
The park has gone through several ownership and operational changes; in 1983, Canada's Wonderland was acquired by the Kings Entertainment Company (KECO), and in 1987, it was acquired again by Great American Broadcasting (the re-organization of Taft Broadcasting), who purchased KECO. While this meant that the park was wholly owned by Taft, it continued being operated by KECO until 1992, when KECO was purchased by Paramount Communications. In 1993, KECO was reorganized into Paramount Parks and the park was rebranded Paramount Canada's Wonderland. Paramount itself went through several changes in ownership, until Paramount Parks was acquired by Cedar Fair in 2006 when the CBS Corporation decided to sell off its theme park division. Since 2024, the park has been owned and operated by Six Flags Entertainment Corporation following the merger between Six Flags and Cedar Fair.
