Colossus County Fair was a themed area at Six Flags Magic Mountain, a carnival-style fair and gaming area centered around the Colossus roller coaster, which had previously opened in 1978.
History[]
The area originally opened as Colossus Boardwalk in 1993, replacing Contempo Pavilion. The area featured Americana-style fairground art, which intended to give the "all-American" feeling of a local county fair.[1]
In the early 2000's, Colossus County Fair underwent a $5.5 million renovation, after Six Flags Magic Mountain wanted to increase gaming capacity and enhance the "fairground-esque" theming of the area. Designer Mark Krukiel led the renovation project, and the area received a new "Americana" style theme, which intended to evoke the feeling of an all-American county fair.
The area was permanently closed after the 2014 season, and was replaced by Screampunk District, which opened alongside Twisted Colossus on May 23, 2015. The Center Ring Games row was re-themed as The Boardwalk.
