Columbia Carousel is a two-level carousel located in Carousel Plaza at Six Flags Great America. Seen as the icon of the park, it is the tallest carousel in the world. It opened in late 1976, the same year that the park originally opened as Marriott's Great America. It was designed by Randall Duell and Chris Mueller.
A similar carousel, the Carousel Columbia, exists at California's Great America in Santa Clara, California. The reason for this is that like Six Flags Great America, California's park started off as Marriott's Great America before being purchased by Kings Entertainment Company. As sister parks, both parks had very similar designs and attractions before they were purchased by another company.

The Carousel Song[]
Every evening before the park closes, The Carousel Song by Gene Patrick can be heard, a song written for both Marriott's Great America parks. It can be heard on the hourly at now-unrelated California's Great America.
