Crackaxle Canyon is a themed area at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, based on a 1920s boomtown in Texas. It opened with the park in 1992, as one of its original areas.
History[]
Six Flags Fiesta Texas opened on March 14, 1992, with Crackaxle Canyon as one of the park's original areas. The area's two featured attractions were The Rattler, a wooden coaster, and The Gully Washer, a river rapids ride.
In 1996, Wagon Wheel opened. It was relocated from Six Flags Over Texas, where it was known as Spinnaker from 1977 to 1995. Spinnaker was one of the most popular rides at the park.
In 1997, Road Runner Express opened. It is a steel roller coaster, based on the chase between Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner
In 1999, Crackaxle Canyon received an expansion featuring three different Looney Tunes themed children's rides. Foghorn Leghorn's Barnyard Railway, Yosemite Sam's Wacky Wagons, and Daffy's Duckaneer opened. Daffy's Duckaneer closed after the 2000 season, and was kept in storage.
In 2001, Turbo Bungy opened, an extra-charge bungy attraction for kids. It closed after the 2005 season.
At the end of the 2011 season, Wagon Wheel was put out of service and removed.
For the 2013 season, Iron Rattler opened. Texas Gunslinger, a slingshot ride, also opened, replacing Wagon Wheel.
In 2019, Texas Gunslinger was moved to Fiesta Bay Boardwalk and renamed to Slingshot.
For the 2020 season, Dare Devil Dive Flying Machines, a Zamperla Super Air Race ride replaced Texas Gunslinger and was expected to open in that year, but opened in 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the 2022 season, Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger, a Bolliger & Mabillard Dive Coaster was announced, planned to replace Sundance Theatre. The ride opened on July 30, 2022.
