Crackaxle Canyon is a themed area at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, based on a 1920s boomtown in Texas. It opened with the park in 1992, as one of its original areas.

History[]

The park first opened as Fiesta Texas on March 14, 1992, with Crackaxle Canyon as one of the original themed areas. The area's two featured attractions were The Rattler, a wooden coaster, and The Gully Washer, a river rapids ride.

In 1996, Fiesta Texas became Six Flags Fiesta Texas, and the Wagon Wheel ride was opened. It was relocated from Six Flags Over Texas, where it was known as Spinnaker from 1977 to 1995. Spinnaker had been one of the most popular rides at Six Flags Over Texas.

In 1997, Road Runner Express opened. It is a steel roller coaster, based on the chase between Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner.

In 1999, Crackaxle Canyon received an expansion featuring three different Looney Tunes-themed children's rides. Foghorn Leghorn's Barnyard Railway, Yosemite Sam's Wacky Wagons, and Daffy's Duckaneer opened. However, Daffy's Duckaneer closed after the 2000 season, and was kept in storage.

In 2001, Turbo Bungy opened, an extra-charge bungy attraction for kids. It closed after the 2005 season.

At the end of the 2011 season, Wagon Wheel was put out of service and removed.

For the 2013 season, Iron Rattler, a RMC conversion of The Rattler, opened. Slingshot was also opened on the former site of Wagon Wheel.

For the 2020 season, Dare Devil Dive Flying Machines, a Zamperla Super Air Race ride, was built on the former site of Texas Gunslinger, but its opening was delayed to 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Between the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Slingshot, by then referred to as "Texas Gunslinger", was moved to Fiesta Bay Boardwalk.

For the 2022 season, Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger, a Bolliger & Mabillard dive coaster, was announced, replacing the Sundance Theatre. The ride opened on July 30, 2022.
