On August 31, 2017, Cyborg Cyber Spin was announced for Six Flags Great Adventure. It was the first ride based on ABC Rides' Tourbillon model to be installed in America, and the first Six Flags ride to be dedicated to Cyborg from DC Comics.
On June 13, 2018, Cyborg Cyber Spin opened at the park.[1] The ride broke down on its opening day and became a maintenance nightmare, not opening for operation at all during the 2020 season. In November 2021, Cyborg Cyber Spin was removed from the Six Flags Great Adventure website, and the restraints were removed from the ride shortly after. Its operational issues were rumored to be connected to its location on the former Haunted Castle site where 8 teens had died in a fire.
Cyborg: Cyber Spin is the first Six Flags ride to be themed to a black superhero (the first theme park ride overall to be based on a black superhero is Storm Force Acceletron on Marvel Super Hero Island at Universal's Islands of Adventure) and the first one to be themed after a Teen Titan since Nightwing at Six Flags New England. However, Cyborg has been a member of the Justice League since 2011.
According to Six Flags Great Adventure's website, this ride is meant to be "training" to prepare guests for the adjacent Justice League: Battle for Metropolis.[1]
