On August 29, 2019, Dare Devil Dive Flying Machines was announced, along with other Six Flags parks' attractions. It was stated that it would be the tallest of its kind, and would go through multiple zero g-roll inversions. It would have 6 four-seater steampunk themed "flying-machines" at a height of 5 stories. [1]
Construction and opening[]
The former Chop Six restaurant and eating area was used for the queue line for the ride, and ground breaking started around late 2019 and early 2020. [2] Footers and the framing for the ride's concrete pad were installed in February 2020. [3][4]
On March 13, 2020, all Six Flags theme parks were closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This also halted the construction of Dare Devil Dive Flying Machines. During the park's closure through the park's reopening on June 19, the ride's structure and ride vehicles were installed, along with more theming work on the ride's queue. [5] The ride would also delay its opening to 2021 instead. In the next two months, more Steampunk theming would be added to the ride's queue and its perimeter, along with audio and special effects. [6]
Technical rehearsals started on November 14, 2020, along with a list of preview days. Diamond & Diamond Elite preview days started on New Years 2021, with the rest of the membership tiers having preview days in late January. Season passes & all membership holders would have preview days on the weeks before the planned opening date on February 27, 2021. The opening date was delayed to March 6, 2021, in which the ride officially opened to the public.
