Double Loop was an Arrow Dynamics custom looping coaster that operated at Six Flags Worlds of Adventure in Aurora Ohio. The coaster operated from 1977 to 2007, when the park closed entirely. Though it was relatively short, it was the first coaster to feature back-to-back vertical loops.
History[]
Funtime Incorporated, the owners of Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, known as Geauga Lake at the time, partnered with Arrow Dynamics to build an industry first. Double Loop opened in 1977 with the first back-to-back vertical loops. The ride was short, as riders would drop and enter an 180 degree turn. After the turn, riders would enter the two loops before entering a helix, and then the brake run.
In 1993, the coaster would enter a software refurbishment, where the control system was modernized. In 2000, when Geauga Lake became "Six Flags Ohio," the ride would be repainted with yellow track and purple supports. The two trains would be repainted yellow and purple.
After the park would close for good, the ride was auctioned off in June 2008. A local scrap company purchased the ride for $23,000, and the ride was later demolished.
