Fiesta Bay Boardwalk is a boardwalk-themed land at Six Flags Fiesta Texas. It opened in 1994, as the first new themed area added to be added to the park after it's opening in 1992.
History[]
After the park's first two seasons were a success, Gaylord Entertainment began to expand Fiesta Texas even further. The first major expansion was to be a boardwalk-themed area with various attractions that a standard boardwalk on a coastal city would have.
The grand opening of Fiesta Bay Boardwalk came in the summer of 1994, and the opening day attractions included the Crow's Nest, a 90-foot ferris wheel, Wave Runner, a classic scrambler ride, S.S. Overboard, a swinging ship ride, and The Wipeout, a "Wipeout" ride by Chance Rides.
For the park's 1996 season, Six Flags Fiesta Texas would introduce "Hurricane" to Fiesta Bay Boardwalk, a backwards looping roller coaster manufactured by Veloma. The ride had previously been planned to open with Fiesta Texas in 1992 where it would have been known as "The Wacky Twister", but for unknown reasons its inclusion was postponed and the ride was kept in storage for over 4 years. In 1996, when the park was purchased by Time Warner and transitioned into a Six Flags park, the ride was finally constructed, and became known as "The Joker's Revenge", becoming the first DC Comics themed attraction at the park.
In 1999, Circuit Breaker Grand Prix – Electric Go-Karts, an extra-charge go-karts attraction, was added. It was one of many go-karts attractions added to Six Flags theme parks that year.
In 2002, Scooby-Doo! Ghostblasters: The Mystery of the Haunted Mansion opened. An interactive dark ride based on the Scooby-Doo! cartoons, the ride quickly became a park favorite.
For the 2007 season, the park received Tony Hawk's Big Spin, a spinning roller coaster manufactured by Gerstlauer. Themed after a skate park, the ride featured different elements of skateboarding translated to a roller coaster. In 2010, Six Flags terminated their licensing agreement with Tony Hawk, and the ride was rethemed and renamed "Pandemonium" for the 2011 season.
At the beginning of the 2019 season, Pirates of the Deep Sea opened, replacing Scooby-Doo! Ghostblasters. Set in the Bermuda Triangle, guests board a pirate ship known as the "Man-O-War" and attempt to take down Larry Longneck, Carvin' Marvin, Smelly Shelly, and Captain Morgold, the infamous pirates onboard.
