Garfield Beach is a cancelled project to build a beach-themed land at Six Flags Zhejiang. It was to be based on the Garfield franchise by cartoonist Jim Davis.[1]
History[]
Riverside Investment Group, Six Flags' partner in the Six Flags Zhejiang project, became financially distressed and was unable to pay its debts.[2][3] As a result, the project was taken over by Sunac China Holdings, which rebranded the overall project as Hangzhou Bay Sunac Tourism City and removed unlicensed character images. The Hangzhou Bay Sunac Water Park was opened in June 2021, but the Sunac Land theme park's construction was delayed from 2022 to 2025 due to the property sector crisis in China.[4]
