Gateway to the West is a colonial Missouri themed area at Six Flags St. Louis. It opened in 1993, replacing parts of the former Missouri and France sections of the park.
History[]
For the 1993 season, the new Gateway to the West area opened, merging parts of both the Missouri and France sections and giving them a new theme. Trapper's Tradin', formerly part of the Missouri section, became Fred Lloyd's Candy Storm, among other changes.
In 2006, Gateway Games opened, a new group of games that replaced the former "make your own music video" building that had operated for several years.
In 2018, much of the area's curbing was repainted from dark gray to a light blue. The reason for this is reportedly for "visibility reasons", though this has not been confirmed by the park. The new color was in sharp contrast to the rustic browns of the overall area, and the new paint was also used on the curbing in Studio Backlot. The light blue was ultimately reverted back to the original dark gray.
