Georgia Gold Rusher is an upcoming roller coaster located at Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell, Georgia. It will be the world's first Intamin Ultra Surf model. The ride was originally intended to debut in the summer of 2024, but was postponed to March 15, 2025 due to construction-related issues.[1][2] The ride features an LSM launch system that will accelerate riders up to 60 miles per hour in a back-and-forth shuttle layout on the 590-foot U-shaped track. Free-spinning gondolas provide a panoramic views on a state-of-the-art surfboard vehicle design. It contains 4 interactive water features when soaring through a scenic splash pool. These effects include a vertical wave wall, a low cutting splash combination, a combination of both a vertical wave wall and a low cutting splash, and a water vortex tunnel. The ride offers a splash zone for on-lookers to get wet as a way cool off in the hot Georgia summers as the train passes by. Riders will encounter 4 different airtime experiences at the airtime hill and 3 weightless airtime moments at the gravity stall ramps.

Georgia Gold Rusher will be located in the Lickskillet section of the park, replacing the former Splashwater Falls Shoot the Chute water ride.

History[]

Six Flags Over Georgia announced an un-named Ultra Surf coaster as what was intended to be the headlining attraction for the 2024 season during a presentation that took place at the Coaster Fest event on August 19, 2023.[3][4] It was the first Intamin roller coaster Six Flags had purchased since Green Lantern: First Flight at Six Flags Magic Mountain in 2011 and the first coaster to open at park from the ground up since Dare Devil Dive. The park allowed fans to submit suggestions for the new attraction's name and over 2,500 were submitted. On February 1, 2024, the park announced "Georgia Surfer" as the then-official name of the attraction with computer-generated renderings.[5] However on August 12, 2024, Six Flags Over Georgia announced on their social media that Georgia Surfer's opening was postponed to spring 2025 due to construction-related issues.[1][6] On January 22, 2025, Six Flags Over Georgia re-introduced the ride as "Georgia Gold Rusher".[7] It is set to open on March 15, 2025.[2]
