Gold Striker is a wooden roller coaster located at California's Great America in Santa Clara, California. It opened to the public on May 31, 2013.[1]

History[]

The coaster was originally going to be built in 2009, but the idea of the coaster was canceled and later revived in 2012. In May of 2012, construction of the coaster began and lumber was delivered in June of 2012.

The coaster opened on May 31, 2013 after a promotional shoot on April 30 of that same year.

Gold Striker closed on July 1, 2013 due to noise complaints. To combat this issue, a 70-foot tunnel was installed after the lift hill. Unintentionally, the tunnel became the world’s largest tunnel after the first drop on a roller coaster. The coaster reopened on July 4, 2013.
