A gum wall is a surface that is accessible to guests who are tempted to leave their mark by attaching a piece of used chewing gum to it. This is a notorious feature of some theme parks or other landmarks where once the tradition begins, it becomes more difficult to stop.[1] Depending on the target of the gum, variations of the term can include "gum post", "gum rock", "gum roof", "gum shrine", and "gum tree". Park staff are known to have sttempted to protect living trees from gum-chewing guests by wrapping their trunks in burlap.[2][3]
