As the name suggests, the Jersey Devil Coaster is named after the legend of the Jersey Devil, a cryptid that is said to inhabit the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. The version of the creature that serves as the ride's basis is described by Six Flags as being "both man and beast".
Originally, Jersey Devil Coaster was initially to open in the summer of 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic caused the park to open later than initially expected and with new safety precautions and practices. Due to the pandemic, construction on the coaster was delayed and was pushed back to a 2021 opening. Construction would later resume in December 2020.
The sixth and final clue, released on August 28, 2019.

On August 12, 2019, Great Adventure posted a tweet that read "It’s a riddle, it’s a scramble. It’s a hint, it’s a gamble. Stay tuned for six days of six clues about Six Flags in 2020!". One day later, the park announced that the first of these clues would arrive on August 14th, the next day. On August 14th, the first clue was released. It was a riddle, which read the riddle was "A centuries-old legend of myth or reality features a villain of complex duality", with the letter Cs at the beginning of "centuries" and "complex" highlighted in orange.
This brought much speculation, with some saying that the legend in question was the Jersey Devil, while others saying the "villain of complex duality" was a reference to the DC super villain Two Face. Some said that the two orange highlighted Cs referred to 200cc, a type of ultra-fast engine used in motorcycles. The second clue was released on August 16. This one read "The creature never sees the light, it's always stalking in the night. Is that a shadow that you see? A haunting vision in the trees. This time, all of the letter Rs were capitalized. This clue further convinced guests of the ride's Jersey Devil theme. On August 19, the third clue was released. It read "Better together, or go it alone? How you fight your fears is a choice of your own." Like the previous clues, a single letter was highlighted in orange, this time the letter Es. This seemed to hint at a dual coaster, or some kind of attraction that would have a different experience based on what side you chose, similar to Batman & Robin: The Chiller. On August 21, the fourth clue was released. This one read "The mystery of where we will find it is clear - no mountain or dell, but there's Dippin' Dots near. It's dark and foreboding, no squint in your eye. Rivers once flowed here, but they've since run dry. This clue confirmed the location of the ride to be in Adventure Seaport. On August 23, the fifth clue was released. It read "Slither or soar... which one do you like more? Either one can explain, but neither one's in the name. Before the final clue, Great Adventure released a "bonus clue" on August 26. It read "Kiddie or water ride; Intamin, Mack, or RMC? So far we've only confirmed the location of where it will be. What is this mystery new attraction? We'll reveal there is only one... you won't be seeing double when these six clues are done". This bonus clue seemed to shoot down the theories from the community that had been repeated since the initial clue.
There was also a mock clue released by Coaster Studios poking fun at the community's guesses; however, RCDB mistook it as official and posted it on their site until they were informed otherwise.

Ride experience[]
After going up the 130 ft lift hill, the train goes down a 122 ft 87° drop, which leads into a dive and then an 180° stall. It then goes up into a turnaround, which drops down into a zero-G roll. After a mid-course brake, the train goes over a few hills, before fully braking at the end, and turning around to go back into the station.
Characteristics[]
The track is a bright orange, with dark grey supports. It is a pretty compact ride, taking up less space than Green Lantern at this same park.
