Jumbo Jet was a steel roller coaster that operated from 1972 to 1978 at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio .
History [ ] Jumbo Jet was designed by Werner Stengel 's engineering bureau and was the first of Schwarzkopf 's Jet Star III models of the Jumbo Jet series. The prefabricated model opened at Cedar Point for the 1972 season. During its time at the park, it carried between 1.6 to 1.8 million guests each year.[ 1] 1978 , Jumbo Jet was closed to make room for Cedar Point's second WildCat coaster. [ 2]
Relocation [ ] Jumbo Jet was relocated 5 times to different parks around the world: Palace Playland in Old Orchard Beach, Maine ; Malmö Folkets Park in Sweden ; the now-defunct Beoland in Nizhny Novgorod , Russia ; Dreamland in Minsk , Belarus ; and its current location at Chelyuskintsev Park (also in Minsk), where it continues to operate.[ 3]
Design [ ] The ride features an electric spiral lift.[ 3]
Trains [ ] The coaster features 3 trains with 2 cars per train. Riders are arranged inline in 6 rows in each car for a total of 12 riders per train.
