Kong is a suspended steel roller coaster located in Oasis Plaza at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. It opened in May 1998, and was manufactured by Vekoma.
History[]
Kong was relocated from Opryland USA, where it operated as "The Hangman" from 1995 to 1997. The ride is believed to be named after King Kong, though it is not officially licensed after the character. Kong opened at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in May 1998 as one of the first coasters in the park, the other being Boomerang: Coast to Coaster.
Kong's entrance was previously loaded near the iWerks theater (Also known as the "Dino Sphere"). In 2007, the park moved the attraction's entrance to Oasis Plaza. Guests now walk under the ride to get to the loading platform.

For Fright Fest 2016, Rage of the Gargoyles, an interactive VR experience, opened on Kong. Like the other versions of the experience, guests put on a VR headset which allowed you to tap the sides to fire in a plane at gargoyles attacking a city. However, this is no longer available.
