Mayan Mindbender was an indoor roller coaster located in Oriental Village at Six Flags AstroWorld. It operated from 1995 to October 30, 2005.

After the park's closure, It moved to Wonderland Amusement Park in Amarillo, Texas in 2006.

History[]

The ride originally debuted at Boblo Island as Nightmare in 1988. When that park closed on September 26, 1993, it was relocated to Six Flags AstroWorld and renamed Mayan Mindbender. The Mayan Mindbender was an indoor ride themed to a pyramid structure. Despite its short speed & size, the pitch darkness added an extra thrill. Sound effects included temple music, and hissing cats & snakes, making it more scary. After AstroWorld closed at the end of the 2005 season, the ride moved again to Wonderland Park in Amarillo, Texas, where it reopened in 2009 as Hornet.
