On July 22, 1999, Cedar Point announced that they would be adding Millennium Force for the 2000 season. Millennium Force was completed on time, opening at the start of the 2000 season on May 13.
In May 2025, the entrance sign was updated to commemorate the ride's 25th anniversary.[1]
Ride experience[]
Layout[]
Riders start in the loading station and board the train. Once everyone is seated, the catch car pushes the train up the 310-foot cable lift hill. Once at the top, the train dives down a 300-foot drop, racing at a max speed of 93 mph. Riders then head directly into the first turn, a 169-foot tall 122-degree right-handed over-banked curve. This is followed by a left turn and the first tunnel. After the tunnel, guests zoom over a 182-foot-tall hill, crossing over the river, pathway and train tracks, and then plummet onto Millennium Island. From there, riders race through an 87-foot tall 360-degree right-handed helix, eventually spiraling downwards onto a straight section and heading into another 122-degree over-banked turn, this time being 100 feet tall and left-handed. The train makes a right turn and hops over a smaller hill and enters a second tunnel with an on-ride camera inside. Riders then turn left, go through a miniature hill, speed through a straight section and move through a 68-foot tall right-handed over-banked turn. This leads to the final brake run and the unloading station.[2]
