Mr. Six (2009-2010)
More Flags More Fun was an ad campaign for Six Flags Theme Parks from 2008 to 2010. During its first year, it featured an unidentified Asian man. Then from 2009, the campaign featured the return of Mr. Six for two years, but was phased out for the "GO BIG, GO SIX FLAGS" ads. The ads were first created by Ogilvy & Mather, after which Six Flags took over producing them internally.[1]
History[]
When Ogilvy & Mather began auditioning the role of the Asian man, a respondent claimed that the casting director provided instructions to "think about those Charlie Chan movies... talk like your grandfather."[2][3] The actor who was cast in the role was reportedly nicknamed "Geno", according to a social media post.[4] After negative public reception, the ad campaign switched back to Mr. Six by the following year.[1]
Description[]
The ad starts with a clip of something boring or embarrassing with a "Fun-O-Meter" showing one or two flags, after which the Asian man or Mr. Six pops up in a circle and says "One Flag" or "Two Flags". Then the scene cuts to a roller coaster, water slide, or other activity in which one of them says "Six Flags... More Flags, More Fun!" and at the end of of the ad, one of them says "More Flags, More Fun, Six Flags".
The ad campaign continued in 2010 with the introduction of Little Six. The ad begins with a boring activity involving Mr. Six and Little Six in it, as Mr Six says "One Flag". Then the ad shows Mr. Six and Little Six on a coaster saying "Six Flags, More Flags, More Fun!"
