Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon was an indoor roller coaster at The Great Escape, located in the Ghost Town section of the park. It opened for the 1999 season. The relatively simple steel coaster was enclosed in a warehouse-like building allowing the cars to run in the dark giving a heightened sense of disorientation around sharp twists and turns. As the ride was situated in the park's Ghost Town area, it was themed to the Old West.
The ride originally opened at Beech Bend park as "Jet Star" around 1970. It was moved to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, where it operated as "Starchaser" from 1987 to 1995. Then it was moved to Six Flags Darien Lake, where it operated as "Nightmare at Phantom Cave" from 1996 to 1998. The ride then was moved and opened in The Great Escape in Spring 1999 as "Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon". The 2006 season was the last season the coaster was operated at The Great Escape. The park later confirmed that the ride had been scrapped. The building was left unused until 2013, when it was used for a haunted attraction in Fright Fest.
