The ride is a Scrambler model that was manufactured by the Eli Bridge Company. It had originally operated within an enclosed building in the Roaring 20's area, starting in the 1989 season as Whirlpool.[1]
Renaming and relocation[]
The ride was renamed to HeadSpin as the area was re-themed into the "Boardwalk" for the 1996 season.[2] It was moved out into the open next to Windjammer Surf Racers when the Perilous Plunge water ride was opened on top of its original site in 2000. The ride was removed from the area along with Windjammer in 2001 to make way for the Xcelerator launch coaster.[3][4] It then reopened next to Bigfoot Rapids, operating as Wilderness Scrambler until it was closed again in 2007 and put into storage to make way for the Pony Express motocoaster.[5][6]
Current location[]
The ride was returned the park's Boardwalk area and was opened as "Pacific Scrambler" on May 25, 2013. Ironically, it is situated on the former site of Perilous Plunge, which had displaced it years earlier (when it was called "HeadSpin").[7][8][9]
