History[]
2008-2009: Tony Hawk's Big Spin[]
Following the success of the previous two installations of Tony Hawk's Big Spin, plans to bring the ride to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom and Six Flags Over Texas for the 2008 season began.
On September 25, 2007, Six Flags Over Texas announced the addition of Tony Hawk's Big Spin for the park's 2008 season. In the press release, Park President Steve Martindale said: "The choice to bring Tony Hawk's Big Spin ride to Six Flags Over Texas was very easy. The ride has been quite popular at our sister parks and Tony Hawk is a skateboarding legend. It's a winning formula!".[1]
2010: Big Spin[]
As part of Six Flags Over Texas parent company Six Flags Inc.'s bankruptcy proceedings and restructuring, Six Flags cut ties with several licenses that it deemed unnecessary to the overall operation of the rides. One of the licenses that was cut was Six Flags' deal with Tony Hawk, and as such all of the installations of Tony Hawk's Big Spin were forced to change their name, removing all mentions of the skateboarder. For Six Flags Over Texas' 2010 season, the ride opened as simply "Big Spin", removing Tony Hawk from the name.
2011-present: Pandemonium[]
Probably because of the similarity of Big Spin to the former Tony Hawk's Big Spin, the ride was renamed yet again for the 2011 season, this time being given the name Pandemonium. This was the name that the other former Tony Hawk's Big Spin coasters took on after the licensing was ended. "Pandemonium" was derived from the other spinning roller coaster at sister park Six Flags New England, Mr. Six's Pandemonium.
The ride was repainted during the 2021 season.
