Pontchartrain Beach was a themed land at Six Flags New Orleans, themed after the former New Orleans amusement park of the same name that operated from 1928 to 1983. The Jazzland/Six Flags New Orleans tribute to the park operated from 2000 to 2005, when the park was permanently closed and ultimately abandoned due to Hurricane Katrina.[1]
The star attraction of Pontchartrain Beach was the Big Easy, a large Ferris wheel that could be seen from throughout the park and had a colorful light package that came alive at night.
