Professor Screamore's SkyWinder is a Vekoma suspended looping roller coaster at Six Flags America. It is located in the new SteamTown area of the park which was originally known as Coyote Creek.
History[]
The roller coaster now known as Professor Screamore's SkyWinder has a storied past. Originally opening as The Mind Eraser on May 20, 1995, it was a standout attraction in the Coyote Creek area of Six Flags America.[1] The ride was a classic Vekoma suspended looping coaster that thrilled guests for over two decades. In 2022, Mind Eraser was closed for the season along with the rides in Whistlestop Park and the rest of Coyote Creek after being removed from the Six Flags website with no comments about it from the park itself. This closure marked the end of an era and the beginning of anticipation for what was to come.
Throughout the 2023 season, the area formerly known as Coyote Creek underwent extensive renovations and rebranding to emerge as SteamTown. As part of this transformation, Mind Eraser was reborn as Professor Screamore's SkyWinder. The ride retains its thrilling elements but features new trains and a fresh color scheme that aligns with the SteamTown aesthetic. The reimagined coaster is a nod to the park's commitment to innovation while honoring its rich history. The grand reopening occurred on June 22, 2024, offering a modern twist on a beloved classic.
Ride experience[]
The ride starts when the train climbs a 109-ft chain lift hill. At the top, the train drops 85 feet to the right, reaching a maximum speed of 50 mph. It goes through a roll over, then a left handed turn and then a sidewinder. The train then goes through a right turn until it passes through a double in-line twist. It makes a right turn, then a left handed turn followed by the final brake run.
Characteristics[]
Color scheme[]
When Mind Eraser opened in 1995, it had a teal track and red supports. In 2005, the ride's 10th anniversary, it was repainted with a yellow track and orange supports. In 2024, the roller coaster was repainted with an orange track and red supports as a part of its transformation into Professor Screamore's SkyWinder.
