For similarly-named coasters at other Six Flags parks, see Road Runner Express.

Road Runner Express is a junior steel roller coaster in Bugs Bunny World at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It opened on May 28, 2011. The ride was previously located at Six Flags New Orleans from 2000 until 2009.

History[]

The ride was developed by Vekoma and originally installed as Rex's Rail Runner at Jazzland in New Orleans. When the park was acquired by Six Flags, the coaster was re-themed and renamed to Road Runner's Express.[1][2] After being hit by Hurricana Katrina in August 2005, Six Flags New Orleans was closed. The coaster was salvaged and sent to California. It was intended to be renamed to Mr. Six's Dance Coaster, but after the discontinuation of use of the character, its Road Runner theme was retained.[3][4] The ride re-uses the former station of Yosemite Sam Sierra Falls, which was previously on the site.[5]

Ride experience[]

The experience is mostly the same as the typical Vekoma Junior Coaster (example: Sprocket Rockets) but it has Road Runner theming such as ACME Boxes, cactuses, and Wile E. Coyote himself. Roadrunner doesn't appear in the ride since the coaster's trains are the Roadrunner's shoes.

Some changes were made when the ride was brought to the other side of the Mississippi. Even though many thematic elements were carried over, to avoid duplicating the Canyon Blaster's color scheme, it uses the red X2/Ninja color scheme instead, and many 3D props are now 2D.
