Runaway Rickshaws was a scrambler ride at Six Flags AstroWorld, located in the Oriental Village area of the park.
History[]
The ride was announced simply as "Scrambler" and opened with the AstroWorld park as "The Happening" on June 1, 1968.[1][2] It was enclosed in a dome for the 1971 season and renamed "Orbiter" in 1972. It was later relocated to Oriental Corner and renamed "Rick-shaws", then moved to Nottingham Village in 1989 and renamed "JoustaBout".[2][3] It returned to the Oriental Village by the 2000s as "Runaway Rickshaws".[4] After the park's closure on October 30, 2005, the ride was transferred to Six Flags Over Texas, where it opened for the 2006 season as Sidewinder.[5]
