―Slogan[src]

Six Flags White Water is a Six Flags water park located in Marietta, Georgia, just outside of Atlanta. Spanning 69 acres, White Water is a "second gate" to Six Flags Over Georgia, which is about 20 miles, or a 20-30 minute drive away. Six Flags Over Georgia also has a smaller Hurricane Harbor water park within it since 2014. Both parks often cross-promote each other. White Water is operated by Six Flags Atlanta Properties, and Dale Kaetzel has been the Park President since 2013.

The park originally opened as White Water Atlanta in May 1984, a counterpart to the other White Water parks built by Herschend Family Entertainment in Branson, Missouri and Oklahoma City. The latter was also operated by Six Flags as White Water Bay, before becoming Hurricane Harbor Oklahoma City in 2020.

History[]

White Water Atlanta (1984–1999)[]

White Water Atlanta was constructed by the owners of Silver Dollar City, who later incorporated into what is now known as Herschend Family Entertainment. It was the corporate sibling or "sister park" of White Water Branson and White Water Oklahoma

Six Flags White Water (1999–present)[]

In May 1999, the park was sold to the group of limited partners that own the nearby Six Flags Over Georgia theme park, and so White Water Atlanta was rebranded as "Six Flags White Water", now being operated by Six Flags Incorporated.

In 2011, White Water introduced the Flash Pass virtual queuing system, the first in the world for a water park. Similar virtual queuing systems at water parks would go on to be a mainstay at Disney and Universal properties, among others.

In late 2012 it was announced that White Water would receive a new raft water slide, Typhoon Twister, for the park's 2013 season. It was constructed in the park's off-season and opened to the public in May 2013, replacing the Bonzai Pipelines.[1]

In 2015, the park introduced Dive Bomber, a drop slide. This replaced the Cliffhanger, a similar but shorter drop slide.

In 2016, they introduced Wahoo Racer, a racing slide for up to six people. This replaced 100 Meter Splash.

For the 2020 season, the park originally planned to introduce Python Plunge, a double-tube slide. However, due to the pandemic, it was postponed twice. It finally opened in May 2022, replacing the Escape Chute, aka Rapids.

In 2023, Caribbean Cove was added as a new child's play area. Additionally, Bermuda Triangle was shut down and removed from the website. According to a team member, it was permanently retired due to age. Replacements may follow in 2024.
