Six Flags Zhejiang was a Six Flags theme park project that was under construction in Haiyan, Zhejiang, China.[1] The park was to contain attractions based on Looney Tunes, Garfield, and Tuzki franchises, as well as ones based on pre-existing attractions at other Six Flags parks. Financial problems caused the project to be taken over by Sunac China Holdings, which rebranded it as Hangzhou Bay Sunac Tourism City.
History[]
On March 22, 2018, Six Flags and Riverside Investment Group announced that Tuzki and other Turner-owned IPs would have a presence in the parks.[2]
However, the Riverside Investment Group, Six Flags' partner in the project, became financially distressed and was unable to pay its debts.[3] As a result, the project was taken over by Sunac China Holdings, which rebranded the project as Hangzhou Bay Sunac Tourism City. The Hangzhou Bay Sunac Water Park was opened in June 2021, but the Sunac Land theme park's construction was delayed from 2022 to 2025 due to the property sector crisis in China.[4]
