SkyScreamer is a swing tower ride at Six Flags Great Adventure, located in the Adventure Alley section of the park. It opened with the debut of the Adventure Alley on May 22, 2012, along with the rest of the attractions in the area.
The ride ascends riders to 243 feet in the air and goes round in a circle. Riders can wave to people down below or feel like they're Superman. Despite the daunting height, the ride isn't as scary as it looks.
The ride plays a few flight-related songs as it goes up, like Steve Miller Band's Fly Like an Eagle (itself already used in a WB property when it was covered by Seal in Space Jam) and Foo Fighters' Learn to Fly.
On June 4, 2018, guests were stranded on SkyScreamer for about 15 minutes after a safety sensor tripped, causing an emergency stop. Park employees returned the ride to its home position, and all guests riding exited safely. The ride closed for inspections and reopened shortly after.[1]
Just five months later on November 12, a similar incident with the same safety sensor caused another emergency stop, but this time even higher, at 242 feet in the air. The ride was again brought down to its home position, and the guests exited safely.[2]
