The water park originally opened as WaterWorks in Spring 1989 with 15 water slides, a lazy river, and a children's area on 12 acres. In 2004, it was renamed to Crocodile Dundeeās Boomerang Bay while operated by Paramount Parks. The "Crocodile Dundee" name and licensing was dropped after Kings Island was acquired by Cedar Fair. In 2012, Boomerang Bay was renamed to "Soak City" as it was renovated and added a new wave pool called Tidal Wave Bay. On July 1, 2024, Cedar Fair merged into the Six Flags Entertainment Corporation.[1] The park is undergoing expansion for the 2025 season with the addition of the RiverRacers dual-racing water coaster and Splash River Junction, a kids play area featuring 7 junior water slides and a splash lagoon swimmin' hole.[2]
