This article is about the mega-disc ride at Six Flags St. Louis. For more uses of Spinsanity, see Spinsanity (disambiguation).

Spinsanity is a "mega-disc" ride located in Chouteau's Market[1] at Six Flags St. Louis. It opened on May 26, 2017, and was manufactured by Zamperla.[2] The ride was built in the spot of the former performance area for the Police Academy Show in Studio Backlot, which had been used for other shows since.

Although initially described as "innovative", Spinsanity is a fairly common Disk'O model designed and manufactured by Italian manufacturer Zamperla. Spinsanity fits up to 40 riders and spins up to 14 times a minute, sending guests up to 51 feet up in the area on a halfpipe-like structure.[2]

History[]

Announcement[]

On September 1, 2016, Six Flags officially announced Spinsanity for Six Flags St. Louis as part of the company's 2017 attraction announcements.[3] Just the day before, the ride had been leaked online from an employee who had shared a photo of some banners around the park advertising it for park guests to see that were coming that weekend.

Construction[]

In late 2016, the old movie studio-style street facades originally built for the Police Academy Show in 1995 were removed to make way for Spinsanity. During Fright Fest 2016, the construction in the area forced the Rotten Bros. Side Show, which had been utilizing the space for the past several years, to be relocated to Batman Plaza in Studio Backlot, not far away from their previous location.

Opening[]

"Spinsanity is just one of many new thrilling experiences we are bringing our guests in 2017. This new mega-disc ride, along with the new Galactic Attack Virtual Reality Coaster on Ninja and the debut of our Mardi Gras Festival and Parade in June truly gives everyone in the family something to be thrilled about at Six Flags St. Louis."
―Then-Park President Pete Carmichael on the opening of Spinsanity

On May 26, 2017, Spinsanity officially opened to the public.[2]
