The Batman Stunt Show was a stunt show located in the Batman Stunt Arena at Six Flags Great Adventure. It opened in 1992, and closed on September 5, 1994.

The show is loosely based on the "Burtonverse", with elements from Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992).

History[]

For the 1992 season, Six Flags Great Adventure decided to build the Batman Stunt Arena for The Batman Stunt Show, the first show of its kind at any Six Flags theme park. Time Warner, just after acquiring the Six Flags Corporation in 1991, wanted to establish Six Flags as the closer alternative to Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Since Disney cornered the market with their endless cast of characters for children and families, Six Flags wanted an edgier focus with a mix of lighter Warner Bros. properties like Looney Tunes, and DC Comics, mixed with more adult film properties like Lethal Weapon and Police Academy. To establish the DC brand in the parks for years to come, Batman was their first choice.

The Batman Stunt Arena was constructed in an area of the park that had formerly been home to Great Adventure's second bumper cars attraction, and a "Swiss Bob" flat ride. The arena was given an industrial theme, with smokestacks and other elements.[1]
