The Buccaneer is a swinging ship ride located in the Studio Backlot area at Six Flags St. Louis. It accompanies the attractions Batman: The Ride and the Axis Chemical Arcade. The ride is themed to be the pirate ship of a buccaneer who is inviting guests onboard.
The ride originally opened in 1980 as "The Buccaneer", then part of the USA section of the park. It was later renamed "Yankee Clipper" in 1987 to better fit with the American theme of the area, and when the new Time Warner Studios replaced the USA section in 1995 it became known as "Gotham Harbor". The Time Warner Studios area was reworked into the Warner Bros. Backlot in 1996 and with that change came its new name and theme, "The Joker Inc." In 2024, the ride was once again renamed to its original name of The Buccaneer to avoid confusion with the new attraction opening later that year called The Joker: Carnival of Chaos.
