The Flash: Vertical Velocity is an upcoming steel roller coaster located at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey. It will be the first and only Vekoma Super Boomerang coaster in North America, and the second in the world. The ride will be themed after the DC Comics superhero The Flash, and feature a train that resembles his suit. The ride was scheduled to open in 2024, as part of the park's 50th anniversary celebration. However, due to construction issues, the grand opening was delayed to 2025.[1]
The ride experience will consist of a forward and backward launch along a 1,400-foot track, reaching speeds of up to 59 miles per hour. The train will travel through a 180-degree twisted drop, followed by a zero-g roll back to the vertical tower. The train then will pause and reverse direction, repeating the same elements in reverse order. The ride will offer riders a sensation of microgravity as they run upside down, almost 100 feet off the ground.
