The Flying Cobras, formerly Carolina Cobra, is a steel shuttle roller coaster located at Carowinds in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was the first coaster to be added to the park after Carowinds was acquired by Cedar Fair.

History[]

The ride was manufactured by Vekoma and was originally known as Mind Eraser when it first opened on May 10, 1996 at the Geauga Lake theme park, which became Six Flags Ohio and then Six Flags Worlds of Adventure. After Cedar Fair acquired the park, it was renamed in 2004 to Geauga Lake & Wildwater Kingdom and the ride was renamed to Head Spin. After the Geauga Lake theme park closed in 2007, the ride was moved to Carowinds, where it opened on March 28, 2009 as "Carolina Cobra". The coaster's layout has the distinction of crossing the North/South Carolina border.[1][2]
