Not to be confused with The Penguin Ride. |
The Penguin's Blizzard River is a spinning rafting ride located in Gotham City at Six Flags America. It opened in 2003, and is the tallest spinning rapids ride in the world, as well as the first to be themed after DC Comics.
Frustrated at the guests of Six Flags America, Oswald Cobblepot AKA The Penguin used an arctic blast to alter the weather conditions of a river at the park, turning it into "Blizzard River"
History[]
The Penguin's Blizzard River opened during the opening weekend of the 2003 season at Six Flags America. A family ride, its addition was touted as part of Six Flags' dedication to the continued expansion and enhancement of the "total entertainment product" at the park.[1]
Attraction experience[]
Queue[]
Guests enter the queue from the Gotham City section of the park, across from The Joker's Jinx. You pass through some switchbacks, and even go under an archway with a chalkboard that shows the recent "shipping and receiving" records of Penguin Enterprises. Once in the station, you go into a lane, before being put into a raft by a host or hostess.
Ride[]
Once you're in a raft, you buckle your seat belt, before the raft is cleared to leave. After leaving the station, the raft ascends up the 60-foot lift hill, and in the distance there is a water tower with the logo of Penguin Enterprises. The raft crests over the hill before going left, down into a helix. Once out of the helix, the slide levels out, before turning left into another helix. It then does a little hill, before the raft crashes down into Chiller Bay. The raft then turns left around the corner, and goes up a small lift back into the station.
Trivia[]
- One of the shipments listed on the shipping and receiving board in the queue, "WW6 B", is addressed to "SFA/AW/MD", which is assumed to be an abbreviation that means "Six Flags America/Adventure World/Maryland". Adventure World was the name of the park once it was acquired by Premier Parks in 1992 until it converted into a Six Flags park in 1999.
- The board also incorrectly spells Gotham Harbor as "Gothom Harbor", though this may be intentional.
