Twister Timbers, originally starting out as the Hurler, is a steel-wooden hybrid rollercoaster located at Kings Dominion.
History[]
Back in 1993, after Paramount Parks purchased Kings Dominion and Carowinds, the theme parks opened new themed areas based on the popular film series Wayne's World, with their main attraction being an all-new wooden coaster designed by International Coasters Inc., called the Hurler. In 2008, after Cedar Fair purchased all of Paramount's Parks, they removed references to the movies while still keeping the Hurler's original name.
While Carowinds' Hurler is still in operation, the one at Kings Dominion became too rough and was closed in 2015.
Conversion[]
New I-Box track from Rocky Mountain Construction was spotted for the ride at Kings Dominion in April 2017.[1] Details about the ride, including its new name "Twisted Timbers", were announced on August 16, 2017.[2] Twisted Timbers opened to the public on March 24, 2018, three years after the closure of Hurler.[3]
In 2019, a metal detector was installed in the queue line and cell phone pouches were added to the trains.[4]
