Viper is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Darien Lake. It opened in May 1982.
History[]
Darien Lake Fun Country era (1981-1994)[]
In 1982, the newly-formed Arrow Huss built the park's first major roller coaster, which opened in May.
Six Flags era (1998-2007)[]
In 1998, Time Warner sold operations of Six Flags Theme Parks to Premier Parks, who soon after transitioned its parks into Six Flags parks.
In 1999, Darien Lake became Six Flags Darien Lake.
In 2006, Darien Lake entered a season of turmoil, with rumors swirling that the park could be sold off.
PARC Management era (2007-2010)[]
In 2007, Six Flags sold Six Flags Darien Lake to PARC 7F (now PARC Management), the first Six Flags park to ever be sold to an outside company, which was followed by many others as the company descended into bankruptcy.
Herschend Family Entertainment era (2011-2014)[]
PARC Management sold Darien Lake to Herschend Family Entertainment in 2011.
Premier Parks, LLC era (2014-2018)[]
After Herschend Family Entertainment's lease ended in 2014, operations were taken over by Premier Parks, LLC.
EPR Properties & second Six Flags era (2018-present)[]
On May 22, 2018, Six Flags re-acquired Darien Lake, Frontier City, Wet'n'Wild Phoenix, Wet'n'Wild SplashTown, and White Water Bay from Premier Parks, LLC.
