Wipeout is a flat ride located at the Boardwalk area of Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California.

History[]

The ride is an updated Trabant model that was manufactured by Chance Rides. It opened at the park as "The Wipeout" for the 1999 season in an area below Windjammer Surf Racers, with HeadSpin next to it.[1][2] It is similar to Fiesta Wheel, which had previously operated at Fiesta Village from 1969 to 1986, except that seat directions in the newer model have been alternated so that groups of four can face one another.[3]

With the removal of the shuttered Windjammer Surf Racers in 2001 to make way for Xcelerator, The Wipeout was relocated to an area adjacent to the Sky Cabin tower that was previously occupied by the Sky Jump ride.[4][5] The original signage for Wipeout was updated during a revamp of the Boardwalk area for the 2013 season, dropping "The" from its name.[6][7]

Closures for refurbishment[]

Wipeout was closed for renovation from 2016 to 2018, during which the concrete foundation was repoured and the ride's color scheme was changed from purple to blue.[8][9][10] It was closed again from November 2024 to April 2025 to be disassembled and rebuilt for refurbishment.[11][12][13]
