On August 29, 2013, Six Flags Great Adventure officially announced Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom for the 2014 season as well as the closure of Rolling Thunder and its demolition. The ride was inspired by the 2013 addition and the adjacent area would become a new exhibit for African baboons; the habitat would be replacing the 2011 attraction, Safari Discoveries.
Experience[]
Zumanjaro consists of three free fall drop attractions, each mounted to a vertical support of the Kingda Ka structure. All three towers each feature a single floorless gondola seating eight-abreast. Riders are harnessed in by over-the-shoulder restraints. Catch cars hoist the gondolas up the vertical tower until the top (415 ft). The catch cars release the gondolas and send them into a fast free fall descent at 90 miles per hour for six seconds. If the weather is clear, riders will be able to see, at the top of the tower, Philadelphia. The queue goes through the new African baboon exhibit.
